I will admit, I got addicted to subscription boxes for a while. Subscription boxes are where you pay money each month and get items delivered right to your house. It’s a simple, non-thinking, convenient way to shop. I got clothes, makeup, and even food delivered to my doorstep. Sounds cool, right? Well, it was fun for a while, but I officially cancelled all of my subscription boxes. Here’s the reasons why I quit subscription boxes:
- Subscription overload! Receiving 5 makeup products a month may not seem like a lot, but it adds up. After a year of receiving this subscription, I have way too many sample makeup products.
- It’s not cheap. Ok, $10/month seems like nothing, but that’s $120/year. It adds up, especially if you don’t use everything. Some of the clothing subscription boxes were fun, but as a thrift shopper, every dollar goes a long way.
- I don’t like getting items I don’t need. Many subscription boxes are “surprises” each month. I didn’t get to actually pick the items I want. Even if I donate what I don’t use, I feel like it is a wasteful and a waste of money. One subscription box I had was a snack box. One month, the theme was spicy snacks. As someone who doesn’t eat anything spicy, that whole month’s charge went down the drain.
Subscription boxes are fun to try, but I got tired of them as I was getting product overload, spending a lot, and receiving items I did not need.
